Research Your Jet Ski Buying Decision

Buying second hand is a great way to pick up a high quality personal water craft at a bargain price. It is often said that the value of a new car depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot. Jet Ski became foremost the colloquial term for stand-ups because, in 1973, Kawasaki was responsible for a limited production of stand-up models as designed by the recognized inventor of Jet Skis, Clayton Jacobson II.[2] In 1976, Kawasaki then began mass production of the JS400-A. JS400s came with 400 cc two-stroke engines and hulls based upon the previous limited release models. It became the harbinger of the success Jet-Skis would see in the market up through the 1990s. A jet ski is part water skiing device and part speedboat, with a definite hint of motorcycle during operation. Instead of the traditional propeller or screw motor, a jet ski uses an enclosed gas-powered motor to literally push water out in a jet stream. The jet ski operator straddles a central platform and assumes a shock-absorbing posture with knees slightly bent. The motor is electronically started with a toggle switch located in a column in front of the driver. All jet ski models should also have a dead man's switch -- a connection between the driver and ignition system which should kill the motor instantly if the driver falls off.

Due to dredging operations taking place in the vicinity of Durban's international/visitors jetty, the jetty has been temporarily removed. One's only option, if sailing in to Durban in the next few weeks, and one hasn't organised a prior walk on mooring, would be to anchor in the Silburn channel.

Link] I am growing increasingly concerned over the reception for Americans sailing around the world. I really don't see venturing farther than the Caribbean, or Gulf of Mexico, but am still concerned. What is your opinion of where we should and shouldn't go?
